Self-Directed IRAs

Our Team

Compared with employer-sponsored retirement plans, Individual Retirement Accounts (IRAs) are simple and straightforward. ERISA does not apply and most of the administrative work is handled by the IRA custodian. However, a self-directed IRA, in which the individual owner of the account chooses his/her own investments, can present a number of traps for the unwary.

Our firm advises self-directed IRA owners on the complex Prohibited Transaction rules applicable to IRA investments, to help them avoid the severe tax consequences of non-compliance.
